Workshops

Below are descriptions of some of the workshops that Permaculture Marin has sponsored. Upcoming workshops will be announced on the home page, or in the events calendar.

Greywater workshops

This spring Permaculture Marin sponsored two hands-on greywater installation workshops. During these one-day workshop participants spent the morning learning the principles and advantages of greywater use, different types of systems, the new California code, appropriate landscape design and plants for greywater, common mistakes in system designs, and suitable products to use. In the afternoon we installed a simple, code compliant “laundry to landscape” greywater system, based on designs formulated by Oasis Design and Greywater Action.

Below are photos from each of the workshops.

Natural Dyes Workshop with Rebecca Burgess

It was a lovely spring day in Point Reyes Station for the workshop on natural dyes taught by Rebecca Burgess. The plant materials in dye baths prepared by Rebecca created an exciting array of colors on samples of wool yarn and silk scarves. Plants used included indigo (blue), toyon (orange), black walnut (brown), fennel (soft green), french broom (soft green), and coffee berry leaves (yellow).
